Meet the Team
Laurie West
Serving Ottawa & surrounding areas
Laurie grew up in Montreal, Quebec where she developed
an early interest in art, fashion, color and design. These interests
led her to train and work as a makeup artist and style consultant.
This proved to be a rewarding experience; it helped her develop
her natural artistic talents which she would eventually bring
with her to the Home Staging Industry.
In 1989, Laurie met her soul mate Todd and shortly
thereafter, invited him to join her in her lifelong dream, a working/living
adventure “Down Under” in New Zealand and Australia.
They have been together ever since, travelling extensively, working
side by side, as well as developing their own careers. They have
two ongoing projects: renovating their vintage Ottawa home and
the restoration and re-designing of their 1980’s farmhouse/cottage.
They have also spent many years in the rental income business,
buying, selling and maintaining properties. Her husband’s
career in the financial services industry has helped her to understand
the importance of getting the maximum growth from your equity,
especially your biggest investment, your home

In the nineties, Laurie was looking for a new challenge
and embarked on a career in the casino industry. She worked as a croupier
and table supervisor in Montreal before relocating to the Ottawa area
to accept a position as floor manager. This high paced environment taught
her how to effectively communicate and work with people of various backgrounds,
often in tense situations. After fourteen years in the casino industry
and several life changing events, Laurie longed for a more fulfilling
career which would enable her to work with people in a positive and
challenging environment. This happened quite unexpectedly in 2004, when
she and Todd found themselves faced with the daunting task of liquidating
his family’s estate, including a house and cottage full of possessions
a thousand miles away. This is when she realized the true value of home
staging and decided to become a fully accredited home stager.
Laurie loves to spend her down time reading, organic gardening,
spending time outdoors, and painting. She also has a passion for re-inventing
and restoring antiques and furniture- she has spent countless hours
prowling yard sales looking for that “diamond in the rough”.
Laurie has an excellent eye for detail and the ability to be objective
and think creatively. This makes it possible for her to make recommendations
which will emphasize the positive features in a home and downplay the
negative ones.
Laurie’s natural ability to transform spaces, her
love of working with people as well as her life experiences make her
a valued member of our team…
